Bucknell's Charles Lee Named to CollegeInsider.com Mid-Major All-America Team

March 9, 2006

LEWISBURG, Pa. - On the eve of the Patriot League championship game, Bucknell senior co-captain Charles Lee (Gaithersburg, Md./Quince Orchard) has been named to the CollegeInsider.com Mid-Major All-America Team.

Lee, who was named the 2006 Patriot League Player of the Year last week, is one of the top players on a Bucknell team that is 25-4 overall and has advanced to the league championship game after becoming the first team in Patriot League history to win all of its conference games (14-0).

Lee this season earned first team all-conference honors for the second straight year, and he was a second-team choice during his sophomore year. The two-year co-captain ranks eighth in the Patriot League in scoring (12.8), second in rebounding (6.1), third in steals (2.14), eighth in field-goal percentage (.436) and 10th in assists (2.93).

He was been Bucknell's most consistent performer in conference play, where he averaged a team-best 13.4 points and 6.5 rebounds per game. Over the last nine games of the regular season, Lee averaged 16.2 points and 6.4 rebounds, and he totaled 12 and 15 points in Patriot League Tournament wins over Army and American, respectively. Earlier this season Lee became only the 15th player in Bucknell history to record 1,000 points and 500 rebounds. The milestone came in the midst of a career-high 24-point afternoon in a key league victory at Holy Cross on Feb. 11.

Lee was 20 players named to the Mid-Major All-America Team. He joined Juan Barea of Northeastern, Steve Burtt of Iona, Keydren Clark of St. Peter's, Caleb Green of Oral Roberts, Ibrahim Jaaber of Penn, Ben Jacobson of Northern Iowa, Jared Jordan of Marist, Daniel Kickert of St. Mary's, Christian Maraker of Pacific, Paul Miller of Wichita State, Elton Nesbitt of Georgia Southern, Yemi Nicholson of Denver, Timmy Smith of East Tennessee State, Loren Stokes of Hofstra, Rodney Stuckey of Eastern Washington, Joah Tucker of Wisconsin-Milwaukee, Obie Trotter of Alabama A&M, Anthony Winchester of Western Kentucky and Brendan Winters of Davidson.

Bucknell, which is ranked second in the CollegeInsider.com Mid-Major Poll, hosts Holy Cross in the Patriot League Championship Game on Friday at 4:30 p.m. on ESPN2.
